Summary
To fuel our exciting expansion, TCH is actively seeking a dynamic Estimator to join our high-performing team! In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely with our Sales department to craft winning bid proposals that secure major new project victories. The Door and Hardware Industry is a fast-paced, competitive environment where your accuracy, sharp attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and efficiency will directly drive TCH’s continued success and market growth.
Responsibilities
- Estimate project costs in a competitive bid environment using TCH estimating software – EPWS (small to mid-sized projects)
- Coordinating with Project Managers on specific projects
- Analyze project specifications to ensure TCH is competitive in the marketplace before submitting bids
- Manage and evaluate bid proposals received daily/weekly by TCH
- Prepare complete, professional bid proposals within the Bid Log
- Gather and review factory quotes - using factory software, factory personnel or reps – to assure TCH material costs remain competitive
- Organize bid costs including freight for analysis by the Salesperson, Project Manager, Contract Manager or Sales Manager
- Research and problem solve special applications and products specified
- Coordinate with the Accounting department to secure Bid Bonds
- Attend internal and external training to increase product knowledge of the door and hardware industry
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Strong technical aptitude with exposure to construction, estimating, or enterprise resource planning (ERP) software
- Strong math skills and mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read architectural plans and specifications
- Simple knowledge of industry nomenclature
- Self-motivated and able to manage multiple bids with varying deadlines
- High attention to detail
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of the company
- Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision making and comprehension
- Intermediate computer experience in a Windows/ Google based environment
- Must be able to reliably commute or relocate to Omaha, NE.
Work Environment
Office environment with long periods of computer work, workspace allows for sitting or standing.
