Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team! Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with check-in procedures using our EMR system, Athenahealth.
- Schedule patient appointments accurately and efficiently, ensuring optimal clinic flow.
- Collect and process payments, insurance information, and outstanding balances using medical billing and collection procedures.
- Review and update patient records, ensuring documentation review aligns with clinical confidentiality policies and HIPAA regulations.
- Manage incoming phone calls with professional phone etiquette, addressing inquiries related to appointments, insurance coverage, and medical records requests.
- Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers by coordinating care plans and documenting relevant information in EHR systems.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment with strong clerical skills.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks; experience with electronic health records management is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems, and medical billing practices.
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information in compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone communication and office etiquette.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and 10-key typing for data entry tasks.
- Previous clinic or hospital experience is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and health information management.

Pay: $21.00 - $26.00 per hour
