SUMMARY OF POSITION
A Food Runner/Busser at The Florida Room is vital to maintaining a seamless guest experience by ensuring tables are clean, water glasses are full, and courses are delivered with precision and professionalism. This role supports Servers and the broader service team by anticipating needs, clearing tables efficiently, resetting for incoming guests, and assisting with food running and guest requests. A warm demeanor, attention to detail, and a passion for hospitality are essential. Training and mentorship will be available for team members who consistently demonstrate initiative and service excellence.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Clear and reset tables efficiently and discreetly between courses and guests.
- Support servers by delivering food, beverages, and condiments accurately and with care.
- Ensure water glasses are filled and mise en place is maintained.
- Remove used dishes and glassware promptly.
- Monitor the floor for cleanliness and guests' needs. Communicate any guest needs or feedback to server or manager.
- Maintain, restock, clean and organize server side stations, including polishing glassware and silverware, plates, utensils, napkins, and condiments.
- Ability to describe dishes and pairings with vivid, engaging language.
- Work collaboratively with back of house to time courses, address guest feedback, and ensure consistency.
- Familiarity with service sequence: greeting, pacing, bread and beverage service, clearing, dessert presentation, etc.
- Ability to read, write, communicate and understand orders. Excellent organization and problem-solving skills.
- Mature judgment and professionalism in handling all matters. Bring positive energy and maintain composure under pressure.
- Always possess a guest-first mindset. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing guest and personal services; this includes guest needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of guest satisfaction.
- Strong customer relations skills. Performing for people or dealing directly with the public. This includes serving guests throughout the venue and receiving guests. All staff must maintain a warm, professional demeanor when in contact with guests and always aim to exceed expectations.
- Must maintain venue cleanliness and organization, including side work, closing checklists, and stock rotation.
- Complete all safety training and certifications. Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures. Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to the manager.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
- ServSafe Food Handler Certificate Required.
- ServSafe Responsible Vendors, Alcohol Awareness Certificate is a plus.
TIME, ATTENDANCE, & AVAILABILITY
- Be available to cover shifts as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the venue as directed by the manager or immediate supervisor.
- Adhere to black out time off guidelines: No vacations or time off will be granted without Manager approval.
- A manager must approve all schedule requests in writing.
- Must have superior attendance and punctuality in mandatory meetings, training, workshops, and/or seminars.
UNIFORM
- Ensure uniform and personal appearance is “on stage clean” and professional.
- Always wear safety/slip resistant shoes.
- All employees must maintain good personal hygiene. Fingernails must be cut and clean. Personal appearance must be suitable for work at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Fluent in the English language is required. Spanish speaking is highly preferred.
- Must possess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money, make change and master the POS system.
- Minimum of 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Restaurant service experience is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with health department standards and beverage service protocols.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS
- Requires mobility and prolonged standing, sitting, or walking for an extended period of time.
- Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to (30) thirty pounds without assistance.
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, stoops, lifts, shakes, stirs, pours, carries and pushes.
- Essential hand/eye coordination.
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior and exterior restaurant/bar/nightclub work environment.
- Work may be performed in small areas having a (3) three-foot access.
- Work entails chemical usage.
- Ability to tolerate varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination and air quality.
- Performing for people or dealing directly with the public.
- Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects with hands.
