Job Overview
We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Bridal Alterations Seamstress to join our dynamic team. Your craftsmanship will help transform our one-of-a-kind and vintage gowns into perfectly fitted garments for our clients in a timely manner. Ideally, our alteration specialist will attend the fitting appointment to discuss construction details for alterations needed.
Duties
- Perform precise clothing alterations on bridal gowns, bridesmaid dresses, and other formalwear using sewing machines, hand sewing techniques, and pressing equipment.
- Adjust garment fit by taking measurements, pinning, fitting, and making necessary modifications to ensure optimal comfort and appearance.
- Operate pressing machines and press garments to achieve crisp seams, smooth finishes, and professional presentation.
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their specific alteration needs and provide expert advice on fabric materials and garment construction.
- Use fabric knowledge to select appropriate sewing techniques for different materials such as lace, satin, tulle, and silk.
- Execute garment construction tasks including stitching, hemming, zipper installation, and embellishment adjustments with precision.
- Possess appropriate equipment and workspace to work from home to finish alterations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in bridal alterations.
- Strong skills in garment sewing, hand sewing, stitching techniques, and garment construction.
- Familiarity with fabric materials commonly used in bridal wear such as lace, satin, tulle, and silk.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly about alteration processes and timelines.
