Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications accurately, including sterile IV admixtures and compounding medications using aseptic techniques.
- Manage medication inventory, perform data entry into pharmacy software systems, and maintain precise records of medication orders and patient information.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal pharmacy laws, drug regulations, and pharmaceutical regulatory standards.
- Support patient service initiatives by providing clear medication instructions, answering questions, and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
- Handle pharmaceutical calculations with precision to ensure correct dosages for diverse patient populations, including critical care and acute care settings.
- Participate in hospital or community pharmacy operations by managing intake processes, drug regulation adherence, and medication administration support.
- Maintain a high standard of safety during IV infusion procedures and sterile IV admixture procedures while adhering to aseptic techniques and hospital protocols.
Skills
- Proven experience as a Pharmacy Technician with knowledge of pharmacy software systems and data entry procedures.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, pharmacological terminology, and drug regulation laws.
- Experience working in LTC (Long-Term Care), hospital pharmacy, or community pharmacy environments with a focus on patient care.
- Familiarity with pharmaceutical calculations, sterile IV compounding, aseptic techniques, and sterile IV admixture procedures.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Knowledge of state healthcare regulations, drug regulation policies, and federal pharmacy laws to ensure full compliance.
- Ability to handle medication administration tasks accurately while maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to safety standards.
