Responsibilities
- Spanish translator highly helpful with our growing patient population.
- Verify patient insurance coverage by reviewing insurance policies, health plans, and managed care requirements using electronic health records (EHR) systems and other tools.
- Obtain insurance prior authorization by communicating effectively with insurance companies, providers, and patients to gather necessary documentation and approvals.
- Review medical records, including clinical notes and billing information, ensuring accuracy and completeness in accordance with medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards.
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive patient information.
- Utilize Microsoft Office applications to document verification activities, update patient records, and generate reports for internal use.
- Collaborate with medical office staff to resolve insurance-related issues promptly, providing excellent customer service to patients and providers alike.
- Stay current on health insurance policy knowledge, managed care procedures, and industry best practices to ensure compliance and efficiency in all verification processes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical office administration or healthcare support roles with a strong understanding of health insurance policies and procedures.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/EHR management) systems and medical billing software.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with insurance companies, healthcare providers, patients, and team members.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook is preferred.
- Prior experience with insurance prior authorization processes and managed care is highly desirable.
