Overview:
The CAM Engineer is responsible for preparing and validating manufacturing data packages for PCB and PCB Assembly. This role ensures manufacturability, accuracy, and efficiency by converting customer designs into production-ready CAM files.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review customer Gerber, ODB++, and CAD data for manufacturability and compliance.
- Create panel layouts, fabrication drawings, drill files, and impedance requirements for PCB and thermal PCB builds.
- Perform stack-up calculations and define copper weights, materials, and tolerances.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Production to ensure smooth handoff into manufacturing.
- Perform DFM checks and communicate feedback to customers for design optimization.
- Manage revision control and maintain accurate documentation of all CAM outputs.
- Support quoting by providing technical assessments, panel yields, and fabrication cost drivers.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of CAM experience in PCB or thermal PCB manufacturing.
- Proficiency with CAM350, Genesis, or similar CAM tools.
- Strong understanding of PCB stack-ups, thermal materials, via structures, heavy copper routing, and PCB layouts.
- Ability to identify manufacturing constraints and propose design improvements.
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
