- Must have experience with Psychiatry billing and coding.
- Must have experience with coding for Spravato (esketamine) services.
- Experience with Athena EMR is a plus.
Duties
- Prepare and submit accurate medical claims using billing software, EMR (Electronic Medical Records), and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems
- Review patient records to ensure proper coding with CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), and ICD coding standards
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies and healthcare claims management
- Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and health insurance information to facilitate smooth billing processes
- Maintain detailed medical records and documentation for all billing activities, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses or procedures requiring precise coding for accurate reimbursement
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries regarding billing statements and insurance claims
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and medical coding practices including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG coding systems
- Proficiency in billing software, Microsoft Office Suite, EMR/EHR systems, and healthcare claims management tools
- Experience with medical collection processes and resolving billing discrepancies efficiently
- Familiarity with health insurance policies, benefits verification, and healthcare reimbursement procedures
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex medical documents accurately
- Effective communication skills for working with patients, providers, and insurance companies
- Ability to adapt quickly to evolving healthcare regulations and billing requirements
