Horizon Healthcare Staffing is seeking skilled and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA) to join our team at a Skilled Nursing Facility in Queens, NY. As a COTA, you will work closely with the Occupational Therapist to provide comprehensive rehabilitation services to the residents. Your role will involve implementing treatment plans, conducting therapeutic activities, and assisting residents in achieving their maximum functional potential and independence.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Occupational Therapist to assess residents' functional abilities, limitations, and goals, and assist in developing individualized treatment plans.
- Implement prescribed occupational therapy interventions under the supervision and guidance of the Occupational Therapist to promote residents' independence and enhance their performance in activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Conduct therapeutic activities and exercises that focus on improving residents' fine motor skills, coordination, strength, and endurance.
- Assist residents in practicing adaptive techniques and using assistive devices to facilitate independence in self-care, mobility, and functional tasks.
- Educate residents, family members, and caregivers on safe and effective strategies for improving functional abilities and promoting independence at home and in the community.
- Monitor and document residents' progress, modifications in treatment plans, and outcomes to ensure effective care and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team, including Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, nurses, and physicians, to provide coordinated and holistic resident care.
- Ensure the therapy area and equipment are clean, organized, and in proper working condition, adhering to infection control protocols.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Current certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
- Licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state of New York.
- Knowledge of occupational therapy principles, techniques, and interventions commonly used in a Skilled Nursing Facility or geriatric setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with residents, family members, and the healthcare team.
- Ability to work collaboratively and follow directions from the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems and documentation software.
- Compassion, empathy, and a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for elderly residents.
