Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, and other commercial vehicles across over-the-road (OTR) routes.
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques or equipment like forklifts and roll-off trucks, ensuring cargo integrity and safety.
- Plan routes using GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery schedules and maintain adherence to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Transport hazardous materials (hazmat) and dangerous goods following all hazardous materials regulations and safety protocols. (no bulk items)
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, and proper load securement.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo documentation, and delivery records in compliance with FMCSA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route changes, delivery status, or any issues encountered during transit.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving and delivery driving with a focus on freight handling with three years experience.
- Knowledge of truck loading/unloading procedures for various cargo types such as freight, hazardous materials, or specialty loads like flatbed and low boy shipments.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning across OTR routes.
- Ability to handle manual transmission trucks and operate equipment such as forklifts when necessary for cargo handling.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations, FMCSA rules, hazard communication standards, and safety procedures related to hazardous materials.
- Skilled in manual handling techniques for safe load & unload operations while maintaining cargo security
This position will require local work that is paid hourly as well as trips out of town that will be paid trip salary. Great potential to make more than the hourly rate with trip salary while serving all area's in Alaska. Pre employment drug test is required as well as being put in a random pool.
Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
