The Clinical Director oversees the Wellness department with the goal of providing a safe, homelike environment where residents can achieve and maintain their fullest level of wellness and function. The Clinical Director utilizes sound leadership principles to maintain a motivated and stable team. Manages resident health and wellness through regular resident monitoring and communication to the Wellness team, residents’ primary care providers and other health services providers. Engages in ongoing personal development in geriatric care, leadership skills, communication skills, and leadership skills. May be asked to assume responsibilities of the Executive Director in their absence to maintain smooth community operation.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
· Provides leadership and direction to nursing team, caregivers, and other clinical team members to ensure the delivery of high-quality care to residents.
· Ensures the CAPLICO Core Values and Code of Conduct are adhered to at all times.
· Ensures compliance with Resident Rights and HIPAA policies at all times. Establishes and maintains positive, respectful, and supportive environment for all residents, employees, families, and community guests. Ensures orientation and welcoming process occurs for all new residents and new team members.
· Hires, trains, and supervises Wellness team.
· Provides mentorship and development of Wellness team.
· Encourages teamwork, promotes wellness philosophy, and supports open communication and collaborative problem solving. Leads by example.
· Actively protects resident and employee safety by recognizing, reporting and taking immediate action to minimize risk of accident or injury. Observes for any signs of resident abuse or neglect and takes immediate action to prevent harm. Reports incidents according to community policy and state laws.
· Ensures all infection control guidelines are met and appropriate tracking and surveillance procedures are followed according to community and state requirements.
· Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, such as those set by state licensing agencies and accrediting bodies, as well as company policy and procedure.
· Ensures employee immunization and series tracking is complete.
· Ensures adequate staffing levels that meet program and clinical needs based upon resident acuity, state regulations, contract requirements, and community budgets.
· Conducts regular in-service and team meetings.
· Collaborates with the Executive Director, Family Advisor, and Wellness team to evaluate residents’ needs and to place them appropriately within the continuum of care.
· Leads Wellness team meetings for ongoing review of residents’ care needs and in creating appropriate support plans based on changes in resident care needs.
· Ensures completion of resident assessments and service/care plans in accordance with community policies and state regulations, reviews them for appropriateness, ensures that service/care plans are available to appropriate team members. Ensures that residents receive the services/care specified in their plans.
· Encourages resident and family participation in service/care planning. As appropriate for resident confidentiality, keeps family informed of resident’s progress.
· Collaborates with the resident to coordinate health services with physicians, therapy providers, pharmacy and other agencies to assure optimal care. Ensures communications meet state and federal guidelines for confidentiality and resident rights.
· Communicates effectively with residents and their families to address concerns and provide updates on care plans and resident status.
· Collaborates with other community departments and contracted providers to promote optimal resident health and well-being.
· Implementing quality improvement initiatives to enhance resident care and satisfaction.
· Responds promptly and appropriately to resident emergencies.
· Ensures adequate care supplies are maintained and ordered accordingly.
· Participates in designated community meetings.
· Performs additional duties, within scope of practice, as necessary.
· Maintains valid licenses/certifications as required by state and/or federal regulatory bodies.
· Initiates and maintains clinical processes and plans of action.
· Communicates clinical results, outcomes, and plans of action to cluster partners.
· Actively participates in community financial planning including labor management and care margins.
· Actively promotes and participates in cluster and market meetings, mock surveys, and cluster support.
· Overseeing the clinical department budget, including monitoring expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
· Performs additional duties, within scope of practice, as necessary or other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Supervisory Responsibility
· Exercises administrative and functional supervision over all Wellness department team.
Work Environment
· Works in office area(s) as well as throughout the community/community
· Moves intermittently during working hours.
· Is subject to frequent interruptions.
· Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.
· Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.
· Is involved in community/civic health matters/projects as appropriate.
· Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the work day, as well as to reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.
· Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB, COVID-19 and the AIDS and Hepatitis viruses.
· May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.

· Must be in a good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
· Must be able to relate and work with the disabled, ill, elderly, emotionally upset and at times, hostile people within the community.
· Must be able to stand and or walk up to eight hours a day.
· Must be able to sit, kneel, bend, reach, and stretch on a frequent basis.
· Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds and support up to 70 pounds.
· Must be able to push/pull up to 100 pounds.
· Must be able to assist with the evacuation of residents.
Specific Requirements
· Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
· Must meet the minimum age requirements established by the state regulations governing the community.
· Must be of good moral character.
· Must be able to obtain criminal history clearance.
· Must comply with all training requirements.
· Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
· Must be in good standing with state and federal government.
· Have an obligation to inform your supervisor if you are on any government exclusion list.
· Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
· Ability to be calm and level-headed in emergencies.
· Well groomed, professional and possess ability to work harmoniously with other personnel.
· Ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existingpractices.

· Must possess a valid driver’s license; must possess and maintain a clean driving record with no major violations.
Education and Experience Requirements
-Must hold active RN license in the state of WI.
· Current license/certification as required by the regulatory bodies governing the community.
· Minimum of one year experience in assisted living or health care.
· Prior supervisory and leadership experience in the health care environment strongly preferred.
· Current CPR certification as required by the regulatory bodies governing the community.
· Any other state specific certifications as required by the regulatory bodies governing the community.
Pay: $97,028.08 - $107,429.94 per year
