Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team in an immediate (Monday 9-6 and Tuesday10-7) temporary position through January/February 2027. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in dental hygiene, patient care, and infection control, with a passion for promoting oral health education. As a Dental Hygienist, you will be responsible for performing professional cleanings, patient assessments, and supporting overall patient well-being while adhering to the highest standards of safety and confidentiality.
Duties
- Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning, scaling, and polishing teeth to maintain optimal oral health.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history reviews, to ensure safe treatment planning.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using appropriate dental imaging techniques while ensuring radiation safety protocols.
- Educate patients on proper dental care practices, emphasizing oral hygiene instructions and preventive measures.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) accurately, documenting treatment details and patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain infection prevention standards by sterilizing instruments, managing infection control protocols, and ensuring a clean clinical environment.
- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure seamless workflow using practice management software re: Dentrix.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental software systems including Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental care.
- Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures accurately while maintaining radiation safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills for client interaction and patient education.
- Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices aligned with HIPAA compliance requirements.
