American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level III/IV NICU position requiring a minimum of 3 years of NICU experience and ventilator management skills.

Work in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) of a hospital setting
-
Level III/IV NICU with patient ratios of 1:2-4
-
Patient population includes premature infants as young as 22 weeks, surgical infants, and infants with hypoxic injury
-
Specialized procedures include therapeutic hypothermia, nitric oxide administration, UAC/UVC lines, PICC lines, Broviac catheters, tracheostomy care, and GTT/ostomy management
-
Specialized equipment includes Tecotherm, BCPAP, Ram NC, Alaris IV pumps, Med Fusion for feedings, Servo Vents, HFOV, Baby Leo, and Giraffe warmers
-
Utilizes Pyxis, Epic, SBAR, and 4P systems
-
12-hour night shifts (18:45-07:15), 3x12 hours per week for 36 hours total

Self-scheduling based on unit needs

Weekend requirement of 3 Fridays, 3 Saturdays, and 3 Sundays within a 6-week period

Floating required to Peds/PICU/nursery caring for infants up to 12 months old

No on-call requirements
-
Active RN license (NC or Compact) required; pending license acceptable for consideration

Current certifications: BLS and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
-
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Level III or IV NICU/ICN required
-
Ventilator management experience required (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
-
Experience with UAC/UVC (Umbilical Artery/Vein Catheter) care required
-
Skills required include IV therapy, blood/blood product administration, central line blood draws, and administration of vasopressors and emergency medications
-
Respiratory care experience including Bubble CPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula, and Nitric Oxide therapy required

Experience with therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket) required
-
Epic charting experience preferred
-
Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required (pending references acceptable at submission)

Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill neonates including premature infants, surgical infants, and those with hypoxic injury
-
Perform sepsis workups and manage isolation precautions/PPE as needed
-
Manage feedings via bottle, breast, or gavage and provide colostomy/ileostomy care
-
24 hours of unit orientation provided
-
Navy blue or white scrubs required

First-time travelers will be considered for this position

Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted at a lower rate

Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees (PERM/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying, with disclosure of hospital name and dates of employment required at submission

Current travel or per diem clinicians with Novant/New Hanover must choose one status and cannot hold both simultaneously
-
RTO of 7 days or less can be auto-approved as long as it does not fall on a holiday; no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment

Must work 2 of 3 major holidays

Travel pairs are allowed if on different units and disclosed at submission, with candidates needing their own transportation

Contract length is 13 weeks, with longer contracts considered up until the end of February
