Position Summary
The Quality Control Lab Technician supports quality control activities by performing routine laboratory testing of plastic compounds using laboratory-scale equipment. This role helps ensure materials and processes meet established quality standards and specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Quality Control & Laboratory Responsibilities
- Perform routine physical and mechanical testing of plastic compounds, raw materials, blends, and finished products following established procedures.
- Accurately record, document, and maintain all test data in a timely and organized manner.
- Identify and immediately report any non-conforming results to the QC Coordinator.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and proper sample storage practices.
- Ensure all laboratory equipment is properly maintained and operated within required specifications.
- Maintain accurate and complete quality records in compliance with company standards.
General Responsibilities
- Communicate regularly with the QC Coordinator regarding priorities, testing status, and operational needs.
- Follow all safety, quality, and company policies and procedures.
- Participate in cross-training across different laboratory instruments and processing equipment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the QC lab.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Entry-level position; 1–3 years of experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, plastics, or quality control environment is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in an engineering or science-related field preferred but not required.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn equipment operation and processing techniques.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow written procedures and work instructions accurately.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
- Experience or exposure to plastics processing, injection molding, or extrusion (lab-scale or production).
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and/or Spanish.
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
- Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures, humidity, moisture, and dust.
Additional Information
- Training period of approximately 4–8 weeks on first shift is required.
- This role includes cross-training, skill development, and operational flexibility.
- Attendance must be in good standing and in compliance with company policy.
