JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Quality Assurance Technician supports Production and Quality departments by inspecting, testing, and documenting product quality and reliability. Responsibilities include maintaining certification documents, communicating findings to relevant teams, and participating in NCR and DMR processes. QA Technicians may interact with customers and suppliers, support product development, and ensure laboratory results' validity through instrument maintenance and calibration.
**This role is for 3rd shift (11:00 PM - 07:00 AM)**
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Materials & Products
- Works with film in various stages of mixing, coating, converting, or lamination production from raw material to finished goods.
- Also uses tapes, cotton pads, and other lab supplies
- Uses various solvents, adhesives and other chemicals to support testing methods.
Equipment
- Use scissors, cutting board, tape measures to prepare samples to precise dimensions
- Use naked eye, microscope, and light boxes to identify material defects
- Uses standard and heat-sealing ovens, light transmission machines, opacity transmitters, and standard lab equipment to perform material and product testing.
- Use Vented Lab hood, mix stand, and tumbler when working with chemicals
- Must read and interpret product specification sheets to initiate proper testing procedures.
- Ability to use and understand manufacturing equipment used in producing products may be beneficial to identify and analyze whether the defects are a result of material, equipment or operator error.
Procedures
- Reviews work schedule at the start of each day to determine oven settings, chemicals required and testing times.
- Follows well-defined standard operating procedures for each quality test to include sample size, heat required and peeling process.
- Visually assesses quality based on pre-determined specifications including control samples.
- Resolves testing errors, with supervision, by reviewing test specifications, machine calibration, and proper adherence to wait times.
- Prepares Quality Assurance Report (QAR), enters information into electronic spreadsheet for use in quality certifications and escalates any concerns or variances to Quality Engineering or Supervisor.
- Enters test data into QAR and creates customer certificates of Analysis. Notifies shipping to include proper certification in package being sent to the customer. Maintains certificate contact list Documents nonconformance, defective and return materials in Queen Anne Drive (QAD) electronic system.
- Follows work orders and standard operating procedures to review quality control test results for conformance with predetermined specifications prior to certification.
- Documents and reports on non-conforming materials in QAR system for further review by QA Manager and Production Manager Performs testing on returned products, documents test results, issues internal corrective action or not based on findings and communications with Engineer.
- Must read and interpret product specification sheets to review proper testing procedures and results.
- Creates point of control samples for future reference and reviews with QA Manager and Production Manager.
- Schedules calibrations with maintenance or outside vendor and updates maintenance schedule. May be trained to perform simple calibrations without external assistance.
- Understands and adheres to all company safety specifications related to the use of ovens, chemicals, and other materials.

Complexity
- Thorough understanding of quality testing procedures (coatings, optical, defects) is required in order to determine if products meet SOP’s and customer qualifications.
- Work from well-defined work orders and SOP’s.
- Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment and the effect on product.
Latitude of Judgment
- Receives specific work instruction from work orders and escalates any concerns or variances to Quality Engineering or Supervisor.
- Initiates NCR/DMR as needed based on understanding of product and customer specifications.
Supervisory responsibility
- This job does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

BENEFITS IN JOINING US

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the local pay range for this position, which is $22.50 to $27.50 per hour, plus 3rd shift differential of 13% of base pay. This hourly pay rate offered can vary depending on location, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. In addition to the hourly base pay rate, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount can be up to 10% of hourly rate based on company and individual performance measures. The total annual target cash range for this position, is $51,700 - to $63,200. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
