Serendipity and HanJi Jewelry are two Seattle-area small businesses offering handcrafted home fragrance, ceramic goods and jewelry. We’re looking for a friendly, reliable person to represent our brands at local weekend markets.
This is a part-time, event-based position for someone who enjoys connecting with customers, telling product stories and working in a lively market environment. After training, you should be comfortable managing the booth independently.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and create a warm, welcoming booth experience
- Help customers learn about and select our products
- Share the stories and details behind our two brands
- Process sales using Square
- Keep the booth organized and products well stocked
- Assist with market booth setup and teardown
- Lift and carry product bins, tables, tents and other market equipment weighing up to approximately 18 kg (40 lb)
- Communicate clearly with our team before, during and after each market
- Transport market inventory and booth equipment when scheduled, if able
Schedule
- Weekend markets throughout the Seattle area
- Most shifts take place on Saturdays and/or Sundays
- Market dates and locations vary
- Earliest available start date: August 16, 2026
- Applicants who can work regularly on weekends are strongly preferred
Compensation
- $21.30 per hour
- Additional commission equal to 10% of the portion of market sales above $1,000
- Paid training
- Selected applicants will be invited to work one paid trial market before a long-term hiring decision is made
Qualifications
- Friendly, approachable and comfortable starting conversations with customers
- Reliable, punctual and able to work independently
- Available for most Saturdays and/or Sundays
- Comfortable working at indoor and outdoor markets
- Able to stand for extended periods and participate in booth setup and teardown
- Able to lift and carry equipment weighing approximately 14–18 kg (30–40 lb)
- Retail, customer-service, market or event experience is preferred but not required
- Experience with Square or another point-of-sale system is helpful but not required
- A valid driver’s license and ability to transport inventory are strongly preferred
