Position Summary: The Materials Manager is a critical position in Pacon maintaining its competitive position and customer relationships. The Materials Manager oversees the entire lifecycle of inventory—from procurement to storage and distribution. Their core objective is to ensure the right materials are available at the right time, in the right quantity, and at the best cost to prevent production downtime and safeguard working capital.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Procurement & Vendor Management: Source raw materials, negotiate supplier contracts, and monitor vendor performance.
· Inventory Control: Track stock levels, conduct cycle counts, and establish reorder points to prevent shortages and reduce excess waste
- Planning & Forecasting: Align material requirements with sales and operations planning (S&OP) and master production schedules.
· Manage the Planners – Planners have specific customers for whom they are responsible. The planner takes customer requirements, updates the planning tool with customer needs and data from our ERP system and then place PO’s to suppliers to meet the customer and manufacturing requirements, taking into account manufacturing lead time, line availability and MOQ’s.
- Logistics & Warehousing: Coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments, optimize transportation costs, and oversee safe storage practices.
· Develop Plan for and then manage the Shipping/Receiving/Logistics/Warehouse Function, with Warehouse manager – Leland and external warehouse locations.
· Analyze / Manage inventory levels with Planners to maintain balance of inventory $$, inventory space and supporting manufacturing
· Oversee / drive / Do competitive sourcing where feasible (some critical components have stringent requirements and cannot be altered easily, or quickly)
· System Management: Utilize ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) to maintain accurate inventory and purchasing data.
General Education and Background Requirements:
Required
· Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or Engineering.
· Five years of Materials Management
· Deep understanding of ERP platforms and data analytics for KPI reporting.
· Excellent communication skills
· Excellent Excel skills and Microsoft Office products (Word, Powerpoint)
· Self-starter, pro-active
Pay: $110,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
