We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Infection Prevention Nurse to lead our infection control initiatives in our skilled nursing facility. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in infection prevention and SNF healthcare regulations, with a commitment to safeguarding patient and staff health.
As an Infection Prevention Nurse, you will develop and implement comprehensive infection control policies, monitor compliance, and promote best practices in infection prevention and control. Your leadership will be instrumental in maintaining a safe environment aligned with national standards and public health guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate infection prevention policies in accordance with CDC guidelines, OSHA standards, and state regulations.
- Conduct routine surveillance of infection data to identify trends, outbreaks, and areas for improvement.
- Educate healthcare staff on infection control practices, including aseptic techniques, microbiology principles, and disease prevention protocols.
- Review medical records and documentation to ensure compliance with infection control standards and accurate data collection.
- Lead investigations of infection incidents or outbreaks, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to contain and prevent further cases.
- Monitor patient observation practices and oversee care plans related to infectious disease management.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of long-term care regulations, acute care procedures, and public health policies relevant to infection prevention.
Requirements
- 2+ Years Experience
- Proven experience in infection control within healthcare environments such as hospitals, assisted living facilities, or long-term care settings.
- Strong understanding of microbiology, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology pertinent to infectious diseases.
- Demonstrated knowledge of CDC guidelines, disease prevention policies, epidemiology principles, and healthcare infection regulation policies.
- Experience with data management systems for tracking infection rates and compliance metrics.
- Leadership skills with the ability to train staff effectively while fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with MDS (Minimum Data Set) processes and documentation review related to patient care records.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards, HIPAA regulations for patient privacy, and long-term care regulations is essential.
This position may start part time with the opportunity to transition into a full time role.
Pay: $42.00 - $51.00 per hour
