Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Loan Assistant to join our team. As a Loan Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting in the processing of mortgage loans, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing excellent customer service. This role is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in the mortgage industry and develop your skills in underwriting and mortgage servicing.
Responsibilities:
- Assist loan officers with the preparation of loan applications, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and accurate.
- Conduct thorough reviews of loan applications, verifying income and credit information.
- Analyze financial data using basic math and computer software to ensure loan-to-value ratios meet FNMA standards.
- Ensure compliance with federal regulations, including TILA, Fair Housing regulations, and contractual obligations.
- Maintain accurate records of loan processing and communicate with borrowers and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the loan servicing team to resolve any issues that may arise during the loan lifecycle.
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing borrower inquiries and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in the mortgage industry, preferably as a loan officer or assistant.
- Strong understanding of mortgage underwriting and servicing processes.
- Familiarity with FNMA guidelines and regulations.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately.
- Knowledge of TILA and Fair Housing regulations.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
Skills:
- Experience in a bank or mortgage banking environment.
- Strong underwriting skills.
- Proficiency in basic math.
- Knowledge of FNMA guidelines and regulations.
- Understanding of TILA and Fair Housing regulations.
