Summary
As a Truck Driver Class A CDL, you will be responsible for safely transporting goods across various locations while ensuring timely deliveries and adhering to all traffic and safety regulations. This role requires strong driving skills, including experience & proficiency in manual 18-speed transmission and experience with a 48’ flatbed trailer. You will also interact with customers, so strong and effective communication and customer service skills are vital for providing excellent service and ensuring satisfaction. Your ability to load and unload freight, along with a valid TWIC Card and CDL A, will be essential in meeting the organization's operational goals. Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class A commercial tractor-trailer across regional routes, adhering strictly to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Load and unload freight efficiently, utilizing proper techniques and equipment as necessary.
- Ensure proper securing and/or tarping of freight on 48’ flatbed to prevent loss and/or damage during transit.
- Use GPS navigation systems to plan routes effectively, ensuring timely deliveries while optimizing fuel efficiency.
- Maintain accurate logs of deliveries & cargo documentation, driving hours, and vehicle inspections in accordance with FMCSA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and/or customers regarding route updates, delivery schedules or any unforeseen changes or delays in the delivery status.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations while driving, including those specific to proper handling of manual transmission and specialized trailers.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, addressing any client inquiries or concerns.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to identify maintenance needs or safety issues to ensure safe optimal performance.
Requirements
- Valid Current Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on route driving and/or freight delivery.
- Proficiency in operating an 18-speed manual transmission truck and familiarity with 48’ flatbeds.
- Knowledge of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) safety standards.
- Experience handling logistics cargo including load & unload procedures and freight handling techniques.
- Ability to drive safely under diverse weather conditions while maintaining focus on safety protocols.
- Skilled in GPS navigation tools for route planning and real-time adjustments.
- Technologically proficient in the use of Smart Phones and Applications.
- Physical capability to perform manual handling tasks such as loading/unloading and tarping/untarping freight when needed.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to identify maintenance needs or safety issues to ensure safe optimal performance.
