Mechanical Engineer / Designer
Location: Sacramento, CA
Experience: 2–15+ Years | Multiple Positions Available
We are seeking Mechanical Engineers and Mechanical Designers at multiple experience levels to join a growing MEP consulting engineering team in the Sacramento area. Opportunities are available for professionals with approximately 2 years of experience through senior-level engineers and project leaders.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to work on a diverse range of building projects while taking on increasing levels of technical and project responsibility based on experience.
Responsibilities
Depending on experience level, responsibilities may include:
- Design HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial and other building projects
- Perform heating and cooling load calculations and equipment sizing
- Develop ductwork layouts and mechanical system designs
- Prepare Title 24 and energy compliance calculations
- Develop control diagrams, equipment schedules, details, and specifications
- Produce and coordinate construction drawings using AutoCAD and/or Revit
- Conduct existing-condition surveys and field investigations
- Coordinate mechanical designs with architects and structural, civil, electrical, and plumbing disciplines
- Research applicable building, mechanical, energy, and local codes
- Assist with equipment selections and product specifications
- Support projects through design development, construction documentation, permitting, and construction administration
- Review submittals and respond to RFIs and other construction-phase items
- Perform quality control reviews of drawings and engineering documents
- Communicate with project managers, clients, architects, contractors, and other project team members
Senior-level candidates may also:
- Lead the mechanical design and delivery of multiple projects
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables
- Serve as a primary technical resource for clients and project teams
- Review and oversee the work of junior engineers and designers
- Mentor and develop less-experienced staff
- Participate in project planning, proposals, and client meetings
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline preferred
- Approximately 2–15+ years of mechanical engineering or HVAC design experience
- Experience working with an MEP consulting engineering firm strongly preferred
- Experience designing HVAC systems for buildings
- Knowledge of load calculations, ductwork design, equipment selection, and mechanical construction documentation
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD
- Revit experience preferred
- Knowledge of California building, mechanical, and energy codes is highly desirable
- Title 24 experience is a plus
- Strong communication and multidisciplinary coordination skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- EIT and/or PE license is a plus and may be preferred for more senior-level opportunities
