Responsibilities
- Develop engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans that incorporate creative writing, journalism, and social studies content to enhance student learning experiences.
- Utilize instructional design principles and learning technology tools to create interactive lessons that cater to diverse learning styles.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to foster a positive, respectful environment conducive to active participation.
- Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, including standardized testing preparation and ongoing feedback.
- Provide mentorship and academic advising to support students’ personal development and educational goals.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development initiatives, integrating concepts from linguistics, Chicago Manual of Style (CMS), AP style, and research-based best practices.
- Incorporate library services and research skills into lessons to promote information literacy and independent inquiry.
- Support students with special education needs or behavioral challenges through differentiated instruction and behavior management techniques.
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to literacy education, instructional strategies, classroom technology, and higher education teaching methodologies.
Experience
- Prior classroom experience teaching English Language Arts (ELA) or social studies at middle or high school levels is essential.
- Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, lesson planning, proofreading, copy editing, and instructional design is highly desirable.
- Experience working with diverse student populations, including private school environments or Montessori settings, is a plus.
- Familiarity with standardized testing procedures, academic advising, and higher education teaching approaches will strengthen your application.
- Proven ability to mentor students, manage classrooms effectively, and utilize learning technology tools aligns with our mission to deliver exceptional literacy education.
