Inventory Accounting Specialist

Job Summary:
This role performs a wide variety of tasks related to Inventory, including establishing best practices and product pricing.
Essential Job Functions:
- Control up to date vendor price list for all products and locations
- Maintain bills of material
- Create part numbers with appropriate cost and selling prices
- Monitor overall cost of goods and margins
- Oversee open purchase orders and sales orders
- Keep track of dead inventory
- Inventory adjustments and valuation changes
- Monitor inventory variances and correct when necessary
- Reconcile Customer Deposits
- Balance Purchase Clearing account, working with Accounts Payable as needed
- Help establish controls and systems to monitor inventory levels and costs
- Assist customers at corporate location when necessary
- Ability to work occasional overtime and weekends as business needs require
- Other accounting duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Basic accounting skills related to maintenance of inventory and costs; must understand debits and credits
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize multiple projects
- Use of effective analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze and resolve issues
- Ability to multi-task and work in shared area with frequent distractions from phones, walk-ins, etc.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and perform mathematical computations with a high degree of accuracy
- Minimum intermediate Excel skills
Education:
- Some College or comparable work experience
Work Environment:
Usually work in an office setting, sharing an area/room with other employees with frequent distractions from phones, walk-ins, etc. As a result, the work area may be busy and noisy at times. The role may require handling multiple tasks at once and interacting with individuals who are occasionally frustrated or upset.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee regularly sits, with occasional standing, walking, bending; May involve lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling 20 pounds maximum, with frequent carrying objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Requires talking and hearing to express and exchange ideas and the giving and receiving of detailed information. Involves seeing operations, activities, and work performance.
