Alem International Management Inc. ("*Alem"*) is seeking Event Operations Managers to provide event planning and operational services to Alem in support of the Los Angeles 2028 (LA28) Olympic and Paralympic Torch Relays. The Event Operations Managers will be responsible for organizing the planning and delivery of the Torch Relays in a region of the U.S., as designated by Alem.
Alem is an event management company based in Colorado, experienced in working with various Olympic Games and Torch Relays since the Atlanta Olympics in 1996. Alem is the production agency contracted to supply planning and operational services for the LA28 Torch Relays. The individuals selected will be employed by Alem and provide services on Alem's behalf.
Position Overview
The Event Operations Managers are responsible for the overall planning and development of the Relay within their geographic region of the U.S., which will comprise multiple Relay days and cities. The position requires strong events and operations background and proven experience planning and executing complex public events.
The position manages the delivery of city-level planning, route development and documentation, and the identification of services to support Torch Relay operations. This position will liaise with local government officials, public safety agencies, community organizations and external and internal stakeholders during planning and operations. Extensive travel is required throughout both the planning phase and Relay operations.
Position Responsibilities
Relay Planning
The Event Operations Managers are responsible for planning and documenting:
- The detailed street-by-street Relay route through the city and the drive route between Relay cities
- The Relay start locations, break locations, locations for local events and Relay highlight locations such as local iconic places and places of cultural, historical, or sporting interest
- The torchbearer meeting points and the start and end location of each torchbearer
- The timing of the Relay based on standard assumptions and local conditions
Relay City Relationships
The Event Operations Managers are the primary point of contact for Relay operations for their designated Relay Cities and are responsible for developing and maintaining all necessary local relationships. Specific responsibilities include:
- Managing the overall relationship with the community and local government to facilitate the Torch Relay
- Presentations to city and other officials on the Relay and Relay service requirements
- Ensuring city service requirements are in place
- Liaison with law enforcement and other public safety agencies to implement LA28 safety and security requirements
- Monitoring of city activities and preparations for the Relay
- Liaison with community planning committees
- Liaison with local sponsor representatives
Relay Support Services
The Event Operations Managers will work with various Relay functional areas on the detailed planning of other requirements for the Relay in each city, acting as the on-the-ground representative to ensure all needs are in place and will meet Relay operating standards. This may include:
- Vehicle Management - Procurement and operations plan for any local vehicle requirements
- Hotel Management – Review of potential Relay hotel properties and confirmation of logistics arrangements
- Media Management – Identification of potential local media stories, photo opportunities, social media engagement opportunities, and high-profile torchbearer locations
Position Requirements
- Must have the right to work in the United States
- Must hold a valid state-issued U.S. driver’s license and be comfortable undertaking extensive driving
- 5-10 years of professional experience in event planning and management, large-scale events, government advance work, political campaigns, national tours, road race planning, marketing, public relations, transport operations, or other relevant areas of experience
- Proven experience conducting public events which engage with government officials and the conduct of presentations and negotiations with municipal stakeholders
- Knowledge of the U.S. state and local Government system, road systems and infrastructure and geographical layout of cities and towns
- High degree of computer literacy including use of mapping software/GIS systems and databases. (Route planning is documented on a custom-built torch relay database)
- Able to travel extensively both before and during the Relay

Compensation and Additional Information
- The annual base salary range for this position is $87,000.00 - $102,000.00. Alem offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, including paid time off, paid holidays, and health benefits support.
- All compensation is subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, location, or other reasonable criteria consistent with operational business needs and applicable law. Business travel is reimbursed in accordance with company policy.
- The position is a short-term employment contract with a defined end date in August 2028
