American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Mother Baby / Post Partum position requiring at least 1 year of Mother-Baby experience and a valid WA or compact RN license.

Work in a 23-bed Mother Baby Unit at a hospital setting
-
Patient population includes postpartum and low-risk antepartum patients
-
Patient ratio of 1:3-4 (antepartum or couplets)
-
12-hour day shifts (0700-1930), with night shift availability (1900-0730)
-
36 hours per week
-
Weekend rotation required every other or every third weekend
-
No on-call requirement; voluntary on-call only
-
Floating may be required to L&D (antepartum or recoveries) and NICU (NAS, feeder growers); voluntary float to med/surg is also available

EMR: Epic (preferred)
-
IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Pyxis
-
Active WA or compact RN license required
-
Current BLS and NRP certifications required; EFM preferred

Minimum 1 year of Mother-Baby/Postpartum experience required

Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse required

Proficiency in breastfeeding assistance and newborn care, including vital signs, thermoregulation, hypoglycemia management, bilirubin monitoring, and care of NAS babies
-
Ability to independently manage 3-4 couplets, provide discharge teaching, vaccinate neonates, and perform thorough maternal and newborn assessments including fundal checks

Newborn lab, phlebotomy, adult IV skills, and PKU testing experience preferred

Epic EMR experience preferred

Two supervisory references required prior to start (one reference accepted at time of consideration)

A clinical interview is required for this position

Orientation consists of 3 preceptor shifts (NEO); night shift orientation includes 1 day shift and 2 night shifts

Unit support includes a receptionist/HUC 7 days per week with evening coverage until 0100 four days per week, a charge nurse (in assignment with a lower patient ratio), lactation nurses daily from 0730-1600, phlebotomy services, CNAs, RT 24/7, and in-house hospitalist/OB and anesthesia 24/7

Scheduling operates on a 6-week cycle released approximately 2 weeks in advance; holiday schedules are released on a 12-week cycle

At least one winter holiday and one summer holiday are required; no blackout dates

RTO of up to 7 days allowed

Any color scrubs accepted on the Mother Baby Unit; hospital scrubs required if floating to NICU
