DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Mechanical Engineer 2, you will draft and review mechanical engineering designs involving the development of construction drawings and specifications used for bidding and projects. You will prepare budget estimates during various stages of development, assist construction inspection personnel, and ensure plans comply with applicable codes, regulations, and sound engineering practices. You will also approve contractor project submittals, cost breakdowns, supply sources, drawings, and test reports. This role requires solid engineering knowledge to formulate appropriate mechanical designs and the ability to identify, analyze, and resolve inspection issues. In addition, you will utilize Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) software, coordinate surveys and studies to assess department needs, and travel to field sites.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to three days per week after the initial 6-month training period. During the training period, you must report to the office at 1920 Technology Parkway, Mechanicsburg. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Mechanicsburg, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Mechanical Engineer 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of professional mechanical engineering experience which required work on any structural mechanical system, and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering; or
- Two years of professional mechanical engineering experience which required work on any structural mechanical system, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
Special Requirements:
- You must be in possession of a Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
- You must be in possession of a valid driver’s license.
Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
