Position Summary
The HR and Safety Manager is responsible for leading the human resources and workplace safety functions for a manufacturing facility. This position oversees employee relations, recruiting support, onboarding, training documentation, compliance, safety programs, PPE administration, workers’ compensation coordination, OSHA compliance, and employee engagement initiatives.
The HR and Safety Manager serves as a key partner to plant leadership, supervisors, and employees to maintain a safe, compliant, productive, and positive work environment. This role also supervises the HR/Safety Assistant, who supports HR administration, safety documentation, PPE, production reports, training records, and employee recognition activities.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resources Management
- Manage daily HR operations for the facility, including employee relations, attendance support, policy administration, and employee communication.
- Support recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and orientation for hourly and salaried employees.
- Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, training records, disciplinary documentation, and confidential HR information.
- Provide guidance to supervisors and employees regarding company policies, workplace expectations, attendance, conduct, and performance issues.
- Assist management with corrective action, investigations, conflict resolution, and employee concerns.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Support payroll, timekeeping, benefits communication, and HR reporting as needed.
- Build teamwork, improve morale, and support employee recognition and reward programs.
Safety and Compliance Management
- Lead the facility safety program and promote a strong safety culture across all departments and shifts.
- Ensure required safety training is completed, documented, and maintained for all associates.
- Monitor compliance with OSHA standards, company safety policies, PPE requirements, and workplace safety procedures.
- Administer and track PPE programs, safety supplies, and related employee safety requirements.
- Conduct safety audits, inspections, incident reviews, and follow-up corrective actions.
- Coordinate workers’ compensation claims, accident investigations, return-to-work programs, and injury documentation.
- Partner with supervisors to identify safety risks and implement preventive measures.
- Maintain OSHA logs, safety reports, training files, and other required compliance documentation.
- Support emergency preparedness, evacuation procedures, and safety communication.
Manufacturing Support (General Affairs)
- Partner with production leadership to support staffing, attendance, training, employee performance, and workforce planning.
- Assist with production-related HR reporting and workforce documentation.
- Support employees and supervisors in a factory environment
Qualifications
Required
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Minimum of 5 years of HR experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of labor laws, OSHA standards and regulations, and workers’ compensation laws.
- Experience handling confidential employee information.
- Strong Microsoft Office, especially excel proficiency.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and follow-up skills.
- Reliable attendance, professional judgment, and strong work ethic.
- Ability to work flexible hours based on production and employee needs.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Safety Management, or a related field.
- HR or safety certification such as SHRM-CP, PHR, OSHA 10/30, or similar.
- Experience supervising HR, safety, or administrative staff.
- Experience in automotive supplier, manufacturing, production, or industrial environments.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work may be required.
- Intermittent physical activity may include walking, bending, reaching, and standing.
- Must be able to work in a manufacturing/factory environment.
- May be required to support different shifts based on business needs.
- May be required to work extended hours depending on production schedules, investigations, audits, or urgent HR/safety matters.
Success Factors
The successful HR and Safety Manager will be hands-on, detail-oriented, fair, confidential, safety-focused, and comfortable working directly with employees and supervisors in a manufacturing environment. This person should be able to balance compliance, employee support, production needs, and workplace safety while maintaining positive morale and teamwork.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $83,000.00 per year
