Duties
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to ventilated patients, including monitoring ventilator settings, managing airway patency, and ensuring optimal oxygenation.
- Perform detailed patient assessments, including vital signs, respiratory status, and neurological checks to inform treatment plans.
- Administer medications and treatments such as IV infusions, sedation, and pain management with precision and adherence to protocols.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation using electronic health record (EHR) per state and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including respiratory therapists, physicians, and case managers—to coordinate patient care plans effectively.
- Conduct sterile procedures such as suctioning, catheter care, and specimen collection while maintaining aseptic technique.
- Provide education to patients and families about ventilator management, medication administration, and discharge planning to promote understanding and comfort.
Requirements
- Valid nursing license (RN) in good standing with current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
- Strong knowledge of physiology, airway management, ventilator operation, and infection control practices.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities or memory care needs.
- Ability to perform complex procedures such as tube feeding, IV insertion, phlebotomy, and laboratory specimen processing confidently.
- Excellent communication skills for triage assessments and interdisciplinary collaboration in fast-paced environments.
