Tom Bell Cabinetry & Custom | Nashville, TN
Full-Time | Immediate Opening
Job Overview
Tom Bell Cabinetry & Custom is a growing Nashville cabinetry and millwork company seeking an experienced, hands-on Shop & Production Manager to take ownership of our day-to-day shop operations.
We have a strong pipeline of quality projects underway and are looking for someone who can help us immediately manage production, operate and oversee our CNC, coordinate materials and labor, maintain quality, and ensure projects leave the shop complete and ready for installation on schedule.
This is not a desk-only management position. We are looking for someone who understands how cabinets are actually built and is comfortable working alongside the team when necessary.
The right person should be able to review a set of plans, understand what needs to be built, determine the materials and production requirements, organize the work, and manage the project through fabrication and assembly.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily shop operations, production scheduling and workflow to meet project deadlines.
- Read and interpret architectural plans, cabinet drawings, elevations and shop drawings.
- Operate and oversee our ShopSabre CNC router, including setup, operation and troubleshooting.
- Translate drawings, cut lists and project requirements into efficient shop production.
- Order plywood, hardwoods, hardware and other project materials.
- Coordinate material requirements and lead times with the production schedule.
- Organize and prioritize multiple projects moving through the shop simultaneously.
- Direct and work alongside cabinetmakers and other shop personnel.
- Monitor labor, material usage and production efficiency.
- Maintain quality control throughout fabrication and assembly.
- Identify production problems early and resolve them before they affect installation schedules.
- Reduce material waste, unnecessary labor and rework through better shop processes.
- Ensure cabinetry, panels, fillers, hardware and other components are complete, accurate and properly staged before installation.
- Maintain an organized, clean and safe shop environment.
- Coordinate closely with ownership, project management and installation crews to keep projects moving.
- Help develop and improve production systems as the company grows.
Qualifications
- Previous custom cabinetry, architectural millwork or professional woodworking experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of cabinet construction, materials, hardware and fabrication methods.
- Hands-on experience operating CNC woodworking machinery.
- Ability to read detailed plans, drawings and measurements accurately.
- Experience managing or coordinating shop production and schedules.
- Experience ordering and managing sheet goods, hardwood, hardware and other materials.
- Ability to troubleshoot CNC, production and fabrication issues.
- Strong understanding of quality control and installation-ready cabinet production.
- Experience supervising or leading shop personnel.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Comfortable using computers and production/project management software.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to maintaining a productive, organized and safe shop.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who takes ownership of production.
You should be the type of person who can walk into the shop in the morning, understand what needs to get accomplished, organize the people and materials required to do it, and make sure quality work gets out the door on schedule.
We value practical cabinet-making and production experience over corporate manufacturing credentials. If you have spent years working in a cabinet or millwork shop and have progressed into running jobs, operating CNC equipment, managing people and solving production problems, we want to talk to you.
