The IT Specialist is a valuable member of the IT Team at the Detroit Area Agency on Aging. The IT Department is responsible for supporting the large variety of technology needs across the agency. In addition to the standard IT infrastructure, the IT Department is at the forefront of protecting the agency from evolving cybersecurity threats.
Essential Duties;
- Working with the rest of the team, the IT Specialist will support many different components and systems such as:
o Hardware (laptops, desktops, etc.)
o Windows
o Office 365 (web and desktop applications)
o Software applications used by the agency
o Cell phones/Mobile Device Management (MDM)
o Copiers/Printers
o Network (switches, APs, etc.)
o Badge Access Control System
o Account creation/support
o Server Administration
o Conference Room Equipment
o Email Security/Administration
o Office 365 Administration
- Be responsible for monitoring and resolving IT Help Desk requests
- Prepare laptops, cellphones, etc. for use/reuse and other equipment deployment tasks
- Provide equipment & training for new hires as part of the onboarding process
o New Inventory/ Asset Management System
o New IT Support Ticketing System
o New/Updated policies and procedures for:
§ Equipment Refresh Schedule
§ Electronics Recycling Schedule
The candidate must have the following:
- Strong desire to learn, high ethical standards, and good communication skills.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service and to explain complex technological concepts in easy-to-understand language
- Intermediate or higher knowledge of
o Windows 10/11
o Intel/AMD CPU-based laptops & desktops (Dell Preferred)
o Android and/or iOS-based cell phones
o Troubleshooting skills
o Office 365
o Networking concepts
o Cybersecurity
o KnowBe4 Platform (Preferred)
o Email Security Platforms (Microsoft Defender for Office 365 Preferred)
- Moderate to advanced knowledge of:
o Access Control Systems (Preferred)
o Office/Microsoft 365 Administration (Preferred)
o IT Audits (Preferred)
o Security Best Practices (Preferred)
o VoIP phone systems (Preferred)
o Windows Server Administration/Group Policies (Preferred)
o Intune (Preferred)
o PC Imaging (Preferred)
o AI / Microsoft Copilot (Preferred)
o One of the following
§ Bachelor of Science in a related field w/ 3 years of IT work experience
§ Relevant current IT Certification (A+, Microsoft, etc.) with 3 years of IT work experience
§ 5 years of IT Work Experience
§ Bachelor of Science in a related field with 5+ years of IT work experience (Preferred)
§ Relevant current IT Certifications (A+, Microsoft, etc.) with 5+ years of IT work experience (Preferred)
