About Genie Academy
Genie Academy is a K–12 supplemental education company based in New Jersey with centers across Central Jersey, including East Brunswick, Morganville, South Plainfield, Woodbridge, Hillsboro, Iselin, and Long Branch. We teach math, reading, writing, coding, abacus mental math, and SAT prep in small groups of 3–6 students.
About the Role
We're looking for a part-time Reading & Writing Tutor to help K–12 students build strong literacy and communication skills. You'll work across multiple center locations, delivering structured instruction in our small-group format.
Schedule
Monday – Friday: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Saturday: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Responsibilities
- Deliver reading and writing instruction to small groups of K–12 students across grade levels
- Cover skills ranging from foundational reading and phonics through essay writing, grammar, and comprehension
- Follow Genie Academy's curriculum and program cycles
- Create an encouraging, structured learning environment
- Travel between assigned center locations as needed
Requirements
- Strong background in English, literacy, or language arts
- Prior tutoring, teaching, or instructional experience preferred
- Reliable personal vehicle and valid driver's license (multi-center travel required)
- Available for the full weekly schedule listed above
- Committed to completing full program cycles — no mid-cycle departures
- Patient communicator comfortable working with students of varying reading and writing levels
Nice to Have
- Experience in a small-group or classroom setting
- Background in education, English, communications, or a related field
- Familiarity with reading intervention or writing enrichment programs
Compensation
Competitive — based on experience
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
