Kitchen Prep / Porter, Path to Line Cook

Rye Republic is a scratch kitchen and cocktail bar in Brewster, six nights a week, dinner only. We're looking for someone to join our kitchen team as prep/porter with a real, stated path to line cook for the right person.
This isn't a placeholder job. If you show up, follow through, and want to learn to cook, we'll move you. If you just want steady, honest work, that's fine too, but we're looking for someone hungry to grow into more.
What the job actually is, day one:
- Opening and closing kitchen setup, cleaning, dish
- Prep work under direction of our cooks
- Following opening and closing checklists completely, every shift, without being reminded after the first couple weeks
What it can become:
- Cross training on the line as you show consistency
- A real conversation about pay and role at 30, 60, and 90 days, not just when you ask
- A path to line cook for someone who proves they can hold the standard
What we need from you:
- Reliable, on time, every shift. This is not a fill in when convenient job.
- Coachable. We will teach you, but you have to actually retain it.
- Comfortable in a fast, physical kitchen environment
The standards are high here, and we mean that as a filter, not a threat. We want people who take pride in genuine ownership of the guest experience from the moment someone walks in, even from the back of the house.
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
