Preschool Chef
The Preschool at East Cobb is seeking a dynamic, friendly, and passionate Chef to join our team immediately. This position is ideal for an energetic individual who enjoys working around young children, is highly organized, and takes pride in preparing nutritious and appealing meals in a preschool setting.
The Preschool Chef will be responsible for planning, preparing, and serving healthy meals and snacks that support the growth and development of young children while maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient kitchen environment.
Position Details
- Start Date: Immediate
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
- Preschool setting serving infants through pre-K students (and employees)
Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare nutritious, age-appropriate meals and snacks for preschool-aged children.
- Develop creative menus that meet nutritional guidelines and accommodate food allergies and dietary restrictions.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and taste.
- Complete food orders and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
- Monitor stock, rotate inventory, and minimize food waste.
- Maintain an organized kitchen and storage areas.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and licensing regulations.
- Keep accurate records related to food service and inventory.
- Work collaboratively with administration and teaching staff.
- Assist with food preparation and service for special events and school functions.
- Provide occasional classroom coverage or assistance during special events as needed.
- Participate in required trainings and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with young children in a preschool, childcare, or similar early childhood setting required.
- Previous experience in food production, kitchen management, catering, or restaurant operations preferred.
- Knowledge of child nutrition and age-appropriate meal planning.
- Experience placing food orders and managing inventory.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Friendly, positive, and professional demeanor.
- Must be a people person and enjoy interacting with children, families, and staff.
- Creative approach to meal planning and food preparation.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation procedures.
- ServSafe Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain certification).
- Must meet all state licensing and employment requirements for working in a preschool setting.
