As our agency continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Healthcare Credentialing Specialist who understands the importance of compliance, accuracy, and attention to detail. This individual will play a vital role in ensuring our clinicians meet all federal, state, client, and Joint Commission requirements before beginning an assignment.

Position Summary
The Healthcare Credentialing Specialist is responsible for managing the credentialing and onboarding process for travel, per diem, and direct hire healthcare professionals. This role ensures every clinician is fully credentialed, compliant, and assignment-ready while maintaining the highest standards of regulatory compliance.
This position also provides recruiting support by communicating with clinicians, assisting with candidate onboarding, and helping maintain a strong pipeline of qualified healthcare professionals.
Primary ResponsibilitiesHealthcare Credentialing & Compliance
- Coordinate the credentialing and onboarding process for healthcare professionals.
- Verify active nursing licenses through Nursys and applicable state licensing boards.
- Verify healthcare certifications including BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC, ENPC, CPI, and specialty certifications.
- Review education, employment history, and professional references.
- Process and track background checks and drug screenings.
- Review health records including immunizations, TB testing, physicals, respirator fit testing, and other client-specific requirements.
- Ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards, state regulations, and facility-specific credentialing requirements.
- Monitor expiration dates for licenses, certifications, and required documentation.
- Maintain complete, organized, and audit-ready electronic personnel files.
- Work directly with clinicians to obtain missing or expiring documentation.
- Ensure clinicians are fully compliant prior to assignment start dates.
- Maintain strict confidentiality while handling sensitive employee records.
Recruiting Support
- Build relationships with nurses and allied healthcare professionals.
- Conduct initial candidate phone screenings.
- Assist with sourcing qualified clinicians for travel, per diem, and direct hire opportunities.
- Maintain communication with candidates throughout the hiring and onboarding process.
- Assist with clinician submissions and assignment preparation.
QualificationsRequired
- Minimum of one (1) years of healthcare credentialing experience in healthcare staffing, hospital staffing, or a healthcare human resources environment.
- Strong understanding of healthcare licensure verification and credentialing processes.
- Experience verifying professional licenses, certifications, and healthcare compliance documents.
- Knowledge of healthcare onboarding requirements.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
- High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
Preferred
- Experience credentialing travel healthcare professionals.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission standards.
- Experience with applicant tracking systems or staffing software.
- Previous healthcare recruiting experience.
