What you'll do
The Talent Partners at Viasat play a key role in shaping and delivering the organization’s approach to talent. Reporting to the VP, Strategic Workforce Planning, the role will initially focus on connecting business strategies into talent acquisition strategies and drive foundational talent management activity, leveraging market insights and internal KPIs to ensure consistent and effective recruitment, succession planning for critical roles, and building the groundwork for a future-focused talent strategy.
Over time, the role will evolve to take on broader responsibilities in succession planning, talent pipeline development, workforce planning and critical talent identification. The broader talent focus of the role will grow as more consistent global processes are defined by the Talent Center of Excellence. The Talent Partner will act as a trusted advisor to the business, supporting the organization to attract, retain, and develop the critical skills and capabilities needed for long-term success.
This role is onsite, defined as 3 or more days per week in the office in our Carlsbad, CA location.
The day-to-day
Near-term (initial focus):
- Oversee the delivery of effective recruitment, working closely with business leaders, hiring managers, business partners and Talent Acquisition team on recruiting, integrating AI, and evolving a future focused process (interview scheduling, offer admin etc.)
- Lead the delivery of centrally driven succession planning activity, where initial focus will cover critical roles.
- Embed globally consistent talent management practices and frameworks as they are rolled out from the Talent Center of Excellence, avoiding bespoke localized approaches.
- Partner with the P&C Business Partner to develop talent capability.
- Lead with a data-driven mindset, leveraging internal and external talent data and analytics to identify trends to inform the business talent agenda & decision making.
Longer-term (evolution of the role):
- Lead succession planning and talent pipeline management across business areas.
- Partner with leaders to develop strategic workforce plans, including the identification of future capability needs, and align workforce planning accordingly.
- Drive strategic talent sourcing initiatives in partnership with Talent Acquisition Operations team to ensure a strong pipeline of critical and high-potential talent.
- Develop and deploy high-potential and critical talent retention strategies, ensuring robust career development and mobility opportunities.
- Champion Viasat culture and inclusion principles in all talent decisions and processes.
- Provide proactive insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders on talent risks, opportunities and interventions.
What you'll need
- 8-10+ years experience in human resources, ideally in a talent or busienss partnering role, specifically supporting senior leaders and executives
- Bachelors degree or higher in business or a related field
- Proven experience in talent acquisition and recruitment, including stakeholder engagement and end-to-end process delivery
- Strong understanding of succession planning and core talent management practices
- Ability to build trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels, acting as a credible advisor
- Experience embedding consistent global or organization-wide frameworks and processes
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, both written and verbal
- Analytical mindset with ability to use data and AI insights to inform decisions.
- US citizenship is required
What will help you on the job

- Exposure to talent identification, assessment, and development practices (e.g., high-potential programmes, career mobility frameworks).
- Experience in designing and implementing talent pipelines and succession plans across multiple business areas.
- Experience in a complex global organization or government contractor
Salary range
$121,000.00 - $191,500.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $150,500.00- $225,500.00/ annually
