Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Certified School Counselor to join our educational community. In this vital role, you will support students’ academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development by providing expert counseling services and fostering a positive school environment. You will collaborate with teachers, parents, and community resources to ensure a comprehensive support system that promotes student success and well-being.
Duties
- Deliver individual and group counseling sessions focused on mental health, behavioral management, and social skills development.
- Provide academic advising to help students set goals, select appropriate coursework, and prepare for post-secondary opportunities.
- Manage conflict resolution and facilitate positive behavior management strategies within classrooms and school settings.
- Support students from diverse cultural backgrounds by offering culturally sensitive counseling tailored to their unique needs.
- Assist with crisis intervention, child protective services referrals, and adherence to school legal policies related to student safety.
- Conduct assessments using standardized testing tools to identify student needs and develop personalized intervention plans.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, social workers, and external agencies such as child welfare or mental health services to create a supportive network for students.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a School Counselor with relevant state licensing or accreditation.
- Proven experience working with children and adolescents in educational or social work settings.
- Strong knowledge of childhood development, adolescent development, behavioral health, and educational compliance regulations.
- Familiarity with special education laws, school policies, and legal considerations affecting student welfare.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with students, parents, staff, and community partners.
- Demonstrated ability in conflict management and behavioral health counselling.
- Classroom experience or childcare background is preferred to better understand the school environment.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion while maintaining a supportive attitude toward students from diverse backgrounds.

Pay: $54,500.00 - $109,000.00 per year
