At Encompass Community Supports, our full-time employees work 37.5 hours weekly.
Our Facilities Maintenance Specialist performs responsible technical work planning and participating in a variety of facilities and grounds maintenance and repair assignments; does related work as required. Work is performed under minimal supervision. Position is considered essential personnel.
SOME OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs a variety of skilled work/tasks for Agency Facilities and grounds to include minor electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, flooring, etc.
- Inspects Agency facilities; performs routine maintenance; identifies issues and repairs or makes recommendations as necessary.
- Receives and responds to maintenance and repair requests via Agency maintenance ticket system.
- Maintains inventory of tools and maintenance supplies for Agency facilities.
- Inspect and respond to facilities alarms (i.e. fire suppression, sprinkler, sewage systems, etc.); evaluate response and report to management.
- Coordinates with outside vendors/contractors for required maintenance and repair activities.
- Provides validation and sign-off of work performed by vendors/contractors.
- Coordinates work activities with Agency staff and program supervisors.
- Operates and maintains Agency maintenance vehicle for work activities according to Agency policy.
- As essential personnel may be required to work outside normal work hours in call-back, on-call, or emergency situations. Performs related tasks as required and all other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Requires intermediate to proficient knowledge of common maintenance trades such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, and machine/equipment repair.
- Requires proficient facilities maintenance and preventative maintenance inspection and troubleshooting skills.
- Must have proficient knowledge, skill, and demonstrated ability to properly use hand tools common to facility repairs and maintenance.
- Must have the ability to identify facilities maintenance issues, including the ability to provide validation and sign-off of work performed by contractors.
- Requires the ability to drive an agency vehicle and or rental vehicles; a clean driving record with valid VA Driver’s License is required.
- Requires basic PC skills including the use of MS Office applications, internet research, etc.
- Good communication skills (i.e. speaking, writing, reading, reporting, etc.) are required;
- Must be professional and work well with others (internal and external customers) at all levels, including vendors and contract personnel.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or equivalency, and at least 3 years of experience in general building maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC and related work is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects, and some heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for depth perception, color perception, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, operation of machines, operation of motor vehicles or equipment determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surrounds and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions and oils.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Virginia Drivers License
- May require licensure and/or certification relevant to area of assignment.
- Attends training and maintains certifications as required by the Agency and regulatory guidelines.
- Employment with Encompass Community Supports is contingent upon the successful completion of our background check process (criminal, DMV, education, drug screening, reference check, DSS, OIG and SAM).
