American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a PCU/Oncology position caring for acute leukemia and hematology patients, requiring an OH or compact RN license and 2 years of acute care experience.

Work in the PCU/Oncology unit (15E) specializing in Acute Leukemia and Hematology
-
Care for adult and geriatric patients, primarily newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients
-
Target patient ratio of 1:4, potentially up to 1:5
-
12-hour night shifts (3x12, 19:00-7:30) or rotating 12-hour day/night schedule based on contract type

Rotating shift contracts are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period with no guarantee of consistent shift assignment

Variable weekend requirements based on unit needs

Uses Epic for computerized charting

No chemo certification required for this role

Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission

Minimum 2 years of total acute care experience required, with at least 1 year of PCU experience

Acute care experience must be current and consistently worked within the last 12 months

Required certifications: BLS, ACLS

Preferred certifications: ONS Chemo Certification, NIHSS

Oncology experience preferred; training will be provided for oncology patients

Required skills: MS/Tele, telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, use of Rapid Response Teams, feeding tube care and management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line blood draw and care/management, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs

Preferred skills: accessing/managing ports

Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program

2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role; a Charge RN is acceptable for the second reference; coworker references are not accepted

Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls prevention

First-time travelers will be considered and screened for client review

Locals are accepted at the same rate

Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more

Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible to be hired as a traveler

RTO is required to be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less

Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly upon signing contract, as this is a time-sensitive requirement for compliance
