Wilcox Electric is an award-winning, electrical contractor working throughout Washington, DC. We are looking for skilled Electrical Apprentices to contribute to the operations of our reputable and growing business.
The electrical work is Residential (80%) / Commercial (20%) Electrical Upgrades, Renovations, Buildouts and Repairs. Our employees are among the best in the industry. We offer a supportive and professional work environment.
Candidates for the Apprentice positions should have some exposure to the electrical field and/or a demonstrated mechanical aptitude. We expect all apprentices to enroll in and complete the four year apprenticeship training program at the IEC Chesapeake, expenses paid by Wilcox Electric.
Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of electrical tasks associated with residential and commercial service work. This varies from a one hour service call to a more comprehensive upgrade to a property's electrical system.
- Run wire and conduit neatly and efficiently.
- Replace and/or install light fixtures, switches, and receptacles.
- Help to resolve problems with existing wiring, fixtures, and devices. This requires good analytical thinking to isolate the root cause of electrical problems.
- Apply knowledge of the National Electrical Code and perform calculations, as needed, to complete electrical assignments.
- Communicate/coordinate with lead electrician and, as needed, with customers about work completed and remaining.
- Take direction from the Senior Associate for Purchasing and Inventory Management for morning and end-of-day tasks. Help to prepare for the material requirements of scheduled jobs.
- Update job knowledge by participating in apprenticeship training program; following jobsite instructions carefully, reading technical publications, etc.
- Attention to detail is paramount.
Qualifications:

High School Diploma/GED
•
Exposure to the electrical field and/or demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
•
High standards of integrity and professionalism are extended to and required by all employees.
•
Clean driving record and ability to pass background / drug testing.
•
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with other employees, colleagues in the field, and our customers.
•
Interest in developing advanced level, customer service skills.
