Resident Assistants will assist the nursing staff primarily by providing 1:1 Companionship to our residents.

The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Utica is seeking compassionate and dependable Resident Assistants (1:1 Companions) to join our team.
This entry-level position is ideal for individuals interested in starting a career in healthcare. As a Resident Assistant, you will provide companionship, supervision, and support to one resident at a time, helping to ensure their comfort, safety, and overall well-being throughout the day.
No healthcare experience is required—we provide training for the right candidates who have a positive attitude and a genuine desire to help others.
Provide one-on-one companionship and supervision to assigned residents.
Engage residents in conversation, activities, and social interaction.
Assist in maintaining a calm, safe, and supportive environment.
Accompany residents to meals, activities, appointments, and other areas within the facility.
Observe and promptly report changes in resident behavior, mood, or condition to nursing staff.
Answer resident requests and communicate needs to the care team.
Assist with room organization and resident comfort measures as directed.
Support residents during mealtimes and encourage participation in activities when appropriate.
Follow all facility policies regarding resident safety, infection control, and confidentiality.
Perform other non-clinical duties as assigned by nursing leadership.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Compassionate, patient, and respectful attitude toward older adults.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Dependable attendance and professionalism.
Must be able to remain active throughout the shift, including standing and walking for extended periods.
Ability to lift or move up to 35 pounds when necessary.
