Responsibilities
- Welcome guests warmly as a Host or Hostess, managing reservations and seating arrangements efficiently using POS systems like Aloha POS or Micros POS.
- Take orders accurately and process sales transactions seamlessly with POS systems, including handling cash and credit payments.
- Provide attentive beverage and cocktail service, upselling specials and wine selections to enhance guest satisfaction.
- Assist servers with food running, bussing tables, and ensuring timely delivery of dishes to maintain a smooth flow of service.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the dining area and kitchen by performing dishwashing duties and supporting food handling protocols.
- Support kitchen staff by assisting with food preparation, basic cooking tasks, and ensuring food safety standards are met.
- Engage with guests to foster positive relationships, handle special requests professionally, and promote ongoing sales through friendly upselling techniques.
Skills
- Proven experience in food service roles such as host/hostess, server, busser, dishwasher or kitchen helper within a restaurant environment.
- Strong knowledge of POS systems including Aloha POS, Micros POS, OpenTable or similar platforms for order processing and sales transactions.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build guest rapport and handle diverse customer needs confidently.
- Knowledge of beverage service including spirits, wine knowledge, cocktail preparation, and drink presentation.
- Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced setting while multitasking between serving tables, processing payments, and maintaining cleanliness.
- Basic math skills for cash handling and sales processing; familiarity with food safety standards and sanitation practices.
- Culinary experience or food industry background is preferred to support food prep and kitchen operations effectively.
