Duties
- Assist chefs with preparing sushi ingredients, including slicing fish and vegetables using proper knife skills and slicing techniques
- Support food preparation tasks such as assembling rolls, portioning ingredients, and following recipe adherence to ensure consistency and quality
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, rice cookers, and other necessary tools
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace by regularly cleaning utensils, surfaces, and storage areas in compliance with food safety standards
- Help with meal preparation for catering events or daily service, ensuring timely delivery of orders
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth workflow during busy hours
- Follow all safety standards in production, handling food safely and managing food safety protocols diligently
Requirements
- Previous experience in a dietary department or dietary aide role is preferred but not mandatory; enthusiasm to learn is essential
- Experience in food service or restaurant environments demonstrating knowledge of food handling and safety standards
- Familiarity with menu planning, food preparation, and cooking techniques specific to sushi or Asian cuisine is a plus
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently while adhering to safety standards in production
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with kitchen staff and team members
- Basic culinary experience including knife skills, slicing techniques, and recipe adherence
- Knowledge of food safety management practices and proper food handling procedures
- Experience in catering or large-scale meal preparation is advantageous
