Join the team at Chateau Chantal, a family-owned winery, bed & breakfast, and culinary destination located on beautiful Old Mission Peninsula. We’re seeking a dedicated Sous Chef to assist our Executive Chef in culinary operations, including food prep and service for breakfast, events, cooking classes, and other innovative food experiences.
This role supports food ordering, storage, cleanliness, and compliance with all food safety regulations. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences through food.
Responsibilities
- Receive deliveries and verify accuracy of food orders; stock inventory and rotate using FIFO
- Prepare food for wine dinners, private events, culinary seminars, and new food revenue programs
- Maintain inventory records and alert Chef of shortages or needs
- Keep all prep and storage areas clean, organized, and in compliance with Michigan Dept. of Health regulations
- Input and assist with recipe building, menu development, and cost analysis
- Identify and report any faulty kitchen equipment
- Communicate professionally with staff and guests
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Preferred: Serve Safe Certification
- Prior experience in a professional kitchen or hospitality setting
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods
- Flexible schedule with availability on evenings, weekends, and holidays
