Position Summary
Signature Millwork is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Estimator to join our growing team. This role is responsible for reviewing architectural drawings and project specifications, performing accurate material and labor takeoffs, and developing competitive bid packages for custom millwork, cabinetry, casework, and architectural woodwork projects. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of millwork materials, manufacturing processes, and construction practices, and is capable of working collaboratively with project managers, engineers, designers, and vendors to ensure accurate and profitable estimates.

Key Responsibilities
- Review architectural drawings, blueprints, and project specifications to define scope of work for custom millwork, cabinetry, casework, and architectural woodwork
- Perform detailed material and labor takeoffs from construction documents, shop drawings, and specifications
- Prepare complete, accurate, and competitive bid packages including material costs, labor hours, subcontractor pricing, and overhead
- Ability to distinguish between the need for custom material and shelf purchase material usage
- Solicit and evaluate pricing from sheet good suppliers, hardware vendors, and subcontractors to ensure competitive and current material costs
- Attend pre-bid meetings, job walks, and site visits as required to clarify scope and gather field dimensions
- Coordinate with the engineering, project management, and production teams to verify technical feasibility and constructability of proposed designs
- Develop and maintain an up-to-date estimating database, including unit costs, labor rates, and material pricing for millwork products
- Submit Requests for Information (RFIs) to architects and general contractors to resolve specification ambiguities prior to bid submission
- Track and manage bid deadlines, follow up on submitted proposals, and assist in scope review meetings upon project award
- Identify potential cost risks, value engineering opportunities, and alternative materials or methods that maintain quality while reducing costs
- Maintain accurate records of all bids, estimates, revisions, and historical project costs for future reference and analysis
- Collaborate with the sales team to provide timely and accurate estimates that support the company’s growth and revenue goals
- Meet with and establish personal relationship with target customer pre-construction teams
Qualifications
Required
- 3+ years of experience in millwork, cabinetry, casework, or architectural woodwork estimating
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, blueprints, and construction specifications
- Strong understanding of wood materials, sheet goods, hardware, finishes, and millwork manufacturing processes
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel; experience with Bluebeam or similar takeoff tools is a plus
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and clients
- Ability to manage multiple bid deadlines simultaneously and work effectively under time pressure
Preferred
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
- Familiarity with AWI (Architectural Woodwork Institute) quality standards and specifications
- Experience with Microvellum, AutoCAD, or similar millwork design software
- Prior experience working directly with general contractors, architects, and commercial construction teams
- Knowledge of construction contract documents, including CSI divisions and bid specifications
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Office-based role with occasional visits to the production shop floor and job sites
- May require extended periods of sitting and working at a computer
- Ability to read and interpret detailed construction documents and specifications
- Occasional travel to job sites, vendor facilities, and pre-bid meetings may be required

Pay: $65,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
