Position Summary
Recreation assistant assists the Activities Director with the development, preparation, implementation and cleanup of the daily activities. Provides appropriate recreation, and leisure services in accordance with the comprehensive assessment, interest, and the physical, mental, social, spiritual and psychological well-being of each client and adhering current existing federal, state, and local standards, as well as the policies and procedures of The North Ward Center.
Job Description
- Provides direct client contact; assists in preparation and implementation of scheduled activities (i.e.: obtaining and setting up craft supplies, games and seating).
- Implements a variety of programs on a regular or as needed basis to meet clients' needs in accordance with medical restrictions. Assists clients in the performance of daily activities, Ensure that clients are participating in approp1iate activities.
- Work with clients individually and in groups to: Promote and develop new skills and interests, Adapt previous interests to new condition (if applicable),Provide opportunities for recreation participation.
- Assists in setting up, serving and cleaning up of meals. Assisting with morning set-up i.e., snacks. Ensure that clients' personal care is maintained after meals.
- Provides input into planning of the monthly calendar and special events.
- Assists clients as needed with daily functional and off site activities (i.e.: hygiene, ambulation, assistance during arrivals and departures to and from the Center.
- Continuous walking/standing up to 4 hours Walking up to 4 hours in an 8 hour period Sitting up to 4 hours in an 8 hour period Standing up to 4 hours in an 8 hour period Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Maintains and respects client- employee confidentiality.
- Participate in educational seminars to develop and enhance the Assistants' skills and expand the range of services offered by the department.

Education & Experience:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Drivers License (Required to drive company vehicle transport clients)
One-year experience in the Recreation Department in a Geriatric, or Long-Term
setting.
Hourly Rate & Hours of Operation:
$18.00 an hour
Shift 7am- 3pm; Monday thru Friday
