Job Overview

Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident’s personal assistive devices.
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing for changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect privacy.
- Administer medications and manage care plans under supervision, ensuring compliance with all safety protocols and documentation standards.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs, assist with cooking when necessary, and maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning duties.
- Provide companionship and emotional support, engaging residents in social activities that promote mental stimulation and overall well-being.
- Observe residents closely for signs of distress or deterioration, including dementia or Alzheimer’s symptoms, and respond promptly to ensure safety.
- Document care activities meticulously in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and facility policies; participate in team meetings to coordinate comprehensive care strategies.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of patient care techniques including first aid, CPR certification, medication administration, and patient monitoring.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), dementia or Alzheimer’s disease is preferred.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using equipment such as Hoyer lifts; capable of assisting residents with mobility challenges.
- Strong observational skills for patient safety and health status; familiarity with care plans and social work principles is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
