- Standard production schedule, Monday through Thursday
- Overtime may be required as business needs require, including some Fridays and rare Saturdays
PAY
- Starting at $19.00 to $23.00 per hour, depending on skill, experience, education, certifications, and overall role fit.
- Highly qualified candidates with strong inventory, forklift, driving, vendor coordination, facility maintenance, and production support experience may be considered above the starting range.
- This is an hourly, nonexempt position. All actual hours worked over 40 in a workweek will be paid at 1.5 times the employee’s regular rate of pay.

Hornet is seeking a smart, dependable, hands-on Production Support & Facilities Assistant to support production, supply chain, logistics, facility maintenance, and machine shipping. This role is ideal for someone who is early in his or her career but has strong common sense, mechanical aptitude, personal ownership, and the ability to work independently without needing to be babysat.
This is not a sit-still role. The right person will move between vendor runs, inventory support, parts pulling, facility upkeep, pallet building, machine shipping preparation, and other special projects as needed. This individual must be flexible, organized, trustworthy, safety-minded, and willing to take ownership of assigned areas.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Production Support & Facilities Assistant supports three primary areas of the business: outside process/vendor transportation, inventory and supply chain support, and facility maintenance.
This role is responsible for transporting parts, materials, and finished items to and from outside process vendors, including powder coat and other contracted production partners. The role also assists the Supply Chain & Logistics Coordinator with inventory accounting, inventory cage organization, parts pulling, cycle counts, material movement, and special projects. In addition, this role supports facility upkeep and maintenance, including items such as light bulbs, furnace filters, shop organization, basic property care, and general care and keeping of machines, equipment, and company property.
This position also assists with building pallets and preparing machines and components for shipment, including supporting machine loading onto outbound trucks.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESOutside Process and Vendor Transportation
- Transport parts, materials, and components to and from outside process vendors, including powder coat and other production partners.
- Load, secure, transport, and unload materials safely and professionally.
- Verify that parts and materials being transported match the required paperwork, work order, or instructions.
- Communicate clearly with vendors, internal team members, and management regarding pickup and delivery status.
- Help ensure outside process items are delivered and returned in a timely manner to support the production schedule.
- Report delays, missing items, damage, or other concerns promptly.
- Maintain safe, clean, and professional handling of company materials and company vehicles.
Inventory and Supply Chain Support
- Assist the Supply Chain & Logistics Coordinator with inventory accounting and inventory accuracy.
- Help maintain the inventory cage in a clean, organized, secure, and easy-to-use condition.
- Pull parts and materials for jobs, work orders, assemblies, and special projects.
- Assist with cycle counts, physical inventory checks, and inventory corrections as directed.
- Help label, organize, store, and relocate parts and materials.
- Assist with receiving, stocking, staging, and issuing materials as needed.
- Help identify misplaced, obsolete, damaged, or questionable inventory.
- Support special projects related to inventory, production flow, organization, and material control.
- Use company systems, paperwork, and electronic tools accurately as trained.
Facility Maintenance and Property Support
- Perform basic facility maintenance and upkeep tasks, including replacing light bulbs, changing furnace filters, and helping maintain clean and functional work areas.
- Assist with general care and keeping of company machines, equipment, tools, vehicles, buildings, grounds, and property.
- Identify and report maintenance needs, safety concerns, damaged equipment, and property issues.
- Assist with organizing shop, storage, shipping, receiving, and facility areas.
- Help keep common areas, work areas, and assigned responsibility areas clean, safe, and professional.
- Support seasonal facility needs as assigned.
- Coordinate with management before performing tasks that require outside contractors or specialized maintenance support.
Shipping, Pallet Building, and Loadout Support
- Assist with building pallets, crates, supports, and shipping preparations for machines, components, and parts.
- Help prepare machines and equipment for outbound shipment.
- Assist with staging materials, tools, and equipment needed for machine loading.
- Support safe loading of machines and components onto outbound trucks, including 18-wheelers.
- Assist with securing, protecting, and organizing items for shipment as directed.
- Follow all safety instructions and management direction during loading, lifting, moving, and shipping activities.
General Production Support
- Assist production, supply chain, logistics, facilities, and management with assigned tasks.
- Move materials, tools, parts, and equipment as needed.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other material-handling equipment if trained and authorized.
- Follow work instructions, safety procedures, and company policies.
- Work independently and take ownership of assigned areas.
- Communicate clearly when tasks are complete, delayed, unclear, or blocked.
- Look for opportunities to improve organization, efficiency, cleanliness, safety, and workflow.
- Perform all other tasks as assigned by management.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Prior experience in production, manufacturing, warehouse, inventory, shipping, receiving, logistics, maintenance, farming, construction, mechanical work, or other hands-on work environment preferred.
- Forklift experience preferred.
- Experience pulling parts, counting inventory, or working with inventory systems preferred.
- Experience towing, loading, securing, or transporting materials preferred.
- Basic facility maintenance experience preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the ability to perform the following, with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Lift up to 75 pounds.
- Stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, climb, push, pull, grip, and reach throughout the workday.
- Work indoors and outdoors as needed.
- Work in an environment exposed to loud noise, dust, moving equipment, varying temperatures, and shop conditions.
- Climb ladders or step stools as needed.
- Safely use hand tools, power tools, pallet jacks, forklifts, and other equipment if trained and authorized.
- Assist with moving, staging, loading, and securing large or heavy items.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Must maintain an acceptable driving record and be insurable under company insurance requirements.
- Must be able to safely operate company vehicles as assigned.
- Must wear proper PPE at all times and use equipment in a safe manner.
