American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry (OBS) position at a Magnet-designated Level III Trauma Center in Milwaukee, WI, requiring at least 1 year of telemetry experience and a WI or compact RN license.

Work on a 27-bed Med/Surg Office Based Surgery (OBS) telemetry unit within a 933-bed Magnet-designated Level III Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center in Milwaukee, WI
-
Patient population includes cardiac/heart failure, CHF, afib and dysrhythmias, EP studies, Coumadin loading, cath lab, amputations, and pre-surgical patients

Patient ratios: RN 1:4–5 (days/evenings, 0700–2330) and 1:6–8 (nights, 2300–0700); Tech 1:6 (days) and 1:7 (nights)

Skills required include cardiac drips (Primacor, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine), heparin, Lasix, and insulin drips, as well as chest tube management, trach care, telemetry reading, and wound care

Charting via Epic (preferred); equipment includes Alaris pumps, Pyxis, and GE monitors

Centralized telemetry monitoring with a dedicated tele tech

12-hour night shifts, 1900–0730, 36 hours per week

Weekend rotation every other weekend

No block scheduling

No on-call requirements

13-week contract

Active WI or compact RN license currently in hand

Current BLS certification required

Minimum 1 year of RN telemetry experience, with most recent experience within the last year

Epic EMR experience preferred
-
Proficiency with cardiac drips, telemetry reading, chest tubes, trach care, and wound care required

At least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN, collected within the last year
-
Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months to be eligible
-
Support structure includes a charge nurse (2–3 patients on days, full assignment on nights), 24/7 unit secretary, 24/7 hospitalist, 24/7 respiratory therapy, centralized telemetry monitoring, and phlebotomy assistance

Travelers are first to float to comparable inpatient areas within scope of practice; floating to the ICU for appropriate MS patient assignments is possible but rare; ED Holding float ratio is 1:4

Orientation includes at least one shift to learn unit flow

Up to 7 days of time off may be requested during the contract

Facility adheres to a fatigue policy limiting all staff, including travelers, to no more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts

Holiday coverage required: one summer and one winter holiday per contract

Scrub color is open (no camouflage or denim prints)
