Are you an LADC or do you know a substance use disorder clinician/counselor who is looking for a new position? Are you looking to try out what it might be like to be in "private practice"? If so, we'd love to hear from you and see if Top of the Hill Counseling could be a good fit for you!
Top of the Hill Counseling is a small team but we are extremely busy! The agency is licensed through the State of Maine and DEEP as a Level 1 Outpatient Agency offering services specialized for substance use disorder. Top of the Hill Counseling has remained focused on the evaluation and treatment of substance use disorder which includes treatment for "affected others" (loved ones of someone who struggles with SUD). We have many referral sources including DEEP, attorneys, physicians, mental health providers, probation officers, courts (for both evaluations and treatment along with deferred disposition needs).
This position requires a person to have a valid “active” LADC license thru the State of Maine Board of Alcohol and Drug Counselors. This is similar to an "affiliate/ independent contractor" position but you would be under the Agency umbrella. You schedule your sessions with clients so it gives you the flexibility that many desire and you have control over your case load. Ideally, we are looking for a clinician who can carry a case load that is equivalent to a "full-time" roughly would be a minimum of 15 clients per week (but if you can handle more clients; that is even better). This position requires a person who has the ability to work independently, is self-driven, highly motivated, organized, reliable and who is able to communicate clearly with not only the clients of TOTHC but also support staff, their supervisor and their colleagues.
Becoming a clinician here at TOTHC does include; furnished office space, admin support (including billing of insurances and verification of benefits). Intakes are completed and screened by our admin team then dispersed to clinician. Individual and Peer supervision (Supervisor has CCS credentials). The agency currently has a membership that provides a discount code so our clinicians have access to a variety of State Board approved workshops/trainings for CEU’s at no cost. This is not a full list but gives idea of the items the agency offers to clinicians at TOTHC.
Currently we have an abundance of referrals coming into the agency so a big "perk" of working for TOTHC is the agency referrals have been able to keep all the clinicians busy! This sets TOTHC apart from other "affiliate/contract" type positions that usually look for you to bring or build your own clientele/case load and maintain all yourself.
This is a rare opportunity and is coming available for October 1 2026 but we would love someone to start before. We are flexible and will work with someone if they believe they are the right fit!
We are a small agency but we are making a big difference! If you are interested in becoming part of the clinical team at TOTHC please email your cover letter and resume to the Agency’s email at [email protected] (Attn: Jenn)
We plan on reviewing resumes as they are received. We will be in touch to schedule an interview/meeting time so please make sure to include your up-to-date contact info (email and phone number) please and thank you!
Note: Position Responsibilities will be discussed during the interview process but TOTHC is a "level 1 outpatient one on one substance use treatment and evaluation agency". Clinicians will have ability to make their own schedule and include their own personal approaches to helping our clients. Experience being a "DEEP" certified provider a plus but is not a must, we are willing and able to train the right clinician to become a DEEP certified provider, the person must be willing and able to learn!
