Deli/Dairy Department Lead
Willoughby Hills Grocery Outlet is looking for an experienced, dependable, and motivated Deli/Dairy Department Lead to independently manage our self-service deli and dairy departments.
This is a single-person department, so the ideal candidate must be organized, self-motivated, and comfortable taking ownership of daily department operations. This position requires strong attention to stocking, product rotation, freshness, cleanliness, inventory organization, and shrink reduction.
Responsibilities
- Independently manage the daily operation of the deli and dairy departments
- Keep shelves, coolers, displays, and backstock areas clean and organized
- Work incoming deliveries and backstock efficiently
- Keep department displays stocked, organized, and properly conditioned
- Monitor product dates, freshness, and overall quality
- Follow proper product rotation procedures
- Complete markdowns and remove expired or damaged products
- Maintain organized and accurate backstock
- Reduce shrink through proper rotation, stocking, markdowns, and product handling
- Maintain required temperature, cleaning, and department records
- Follow all food-safety, sanitation, and temperature-control procedures
- Identify product needs, department concerns, and sales opportunities
- Communicate regularly with store management
- Provide friendly and helpful customer service
- Assist in other areas of the store when department responsibilities are complete
Qualifications
- Previous grocery, deli, dairy, or food-retail experience is required
- Previous department lead experience is preferred
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Strong attention to detail
- Dependable attendance and reliable transportation
- Ability to remain productive in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of food-safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
